The National Centre for Irrigation Technology (CENTER) was created in 1985 by the General State Administration through Royal Decree 1640/1985.
CENTER is currently attached to the Sub-directorate General for Irrigation, Natural Paths and Rural Infrastructures of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).
Its headquarters are located at the "El Palomar" estate in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid), where it conducts its activities within an experimental irrigated agricultural environment.
