The LCV is a center affiliated to the Directorate General for the Health of Agricultural Production and Animal Welfare through the Subdirectorate-General for Animal and Plant Health Laboratories. Dr. Manuel D. Durán is the Head of the Subdirectorate-General. The LCV is divided into two areas: Animal Health and Molecuar Genetics. Dr. Montserrat Agüero is the Technical Director of the Animal Health Area and the Head of the EURL.
The AHS&BT Team is composed of staff dedicated exclusively to work with Orbiviruses, as well as other personnel who combine work on Orbiviruses with activities carried out in the National Reference Laboratories for other animal diseases, in addition to support tasks.This group has extensive experience in the diagnosis of important animal diseases such as Classical and African swine fever, West Nile fever, Avian influenza, among others, including in emergency situations.
