The CENTER farm has a remote control system installed, which allows for automated management of irrigation scheduling. Via a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system and various electronic devices distributed across the different plots of the farm, irrigation can be controlled from the main building. This system is powered by solar panels, which supply energy to the remote units. Communication between these units and the control centre is via radio or cable.
System Characteristics:
- Allows actuation of 4 bi-stable solenoids (Latching))
- It allows collection of readings from 4 water meters and 1 pressure transducer.
Power supply system:
- 5W Solar Panel
- 12 V and 12 Ah batteries
- Backup battery to retain meter data for two years
Communications system:
- UHF radio modem with a transmitting power of 10 mw
- Configurable solenoid actuation voltage and time
- Designed to form an integral unit with the valve box (manhole) and offer maximum resistance to vandalism and minimum visual impact
- Antenna height 4 - 6 metres, on a galvanised steel mast and aluminium accessories
