Currently the existing problems in relation to resistance to antibiotics around the world, has determined that the main international bodies responsible for public health and animal health have been launched, measures to promote the use responsible and prudent of antibiotics, both in human medicine and veterinary medicine.
The National Plan of resistance to antibiotics established 6 strategic guidelines covering different aspects of relevance to fulfil its objective and are monitoring the consumption of antibiotics, antibacterial resistance control, measures of prevention, the promotion of research, training and information to health professionals and communication and sensitization of the population.
Within the strategic line I in surveillance of antibiotic consumption, fits the measure I.1 for the monitoring of the use of antibiotics in Animal Health, in which a series of actions that include the development of computer control systems of the treatments of antibiotics linked to cattle are conducted.

The Central Control computer system of veterinary antibiotics prescriptions, PRESVET, is an effective tool in monitoring and surveillance of the prescriptions that are made of antibiotics in farming for to take the measures which are needed for their control. PRESVET centralizes information fom veterinary prescriptions of antibiotics including part of the information that composes the veterinary prescription, and which is essential to meet the objective to monitor and control the use of antibiotics in food-producing animals.
NOTE. The system does not include veterinary prescriptions that occur in pets, or data from other veterinary medicinal products. Similarly, although PRESVET centralizes the information on veterinary prescriptions of antibiotics should take into account that does not include in its functions the electronic management of the veterinary prescription.
